The Hawaii Cord Blood Bank continues to make positive strides forward since it was founded in 1998, most notably demonstrated in the growing number of lifesaving transplants it has contributed to around the world. Nationally, cord blood made up just 1 percent of all stem cell transplants in 2002, a percentage that now exceeds 20 percent.
